Learning to Empower, Dyslexia Assessment Test and Diagnosis in Buckinghamshire
Jane Gale BEd MA (Edu) PGCert SEND MDG APC.
I’m Jane Gale, a qualified dyslexia assessor based in Chalfont St Peter, Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire. I provide full diagnostic dyslexia assessments for children aged 8 to 14, either in schools, or from my assessment room at Jordans Quaker Centre, Beaconsfield.
My assessments are designed for children who may be experiencing difficulties with reading, spelling, writing, processing speed, working memory or phonological skills. I work with families and schools across Buckinghamshire, including Gerrards Cross, Chalfont St Peter, Beaconsfield, Amersham, Chesham, High Wycombe, Denham, Seer Green, Jordans and nearby Bucks villages.
As a teacher and dyslexia assessor, I am deeply committed to helping every child understand their learning profile, build confidence and access the right support. My assessments identify both strengths and areas for development, with clear, practical recommendations for home and school.
I have over 20 years’ experience of teaching in primary schools, including previously working as a literacy leading teacher for Hertfordshire LEA (Local Education Authority).
As a teacher and dyslexia assessor, I am hugely passionate about ensuring that all children are able to enjoy learning and reach their full potential. Throughout my career I have worked with many children with dyslexia, which has taught me two very important things:
Firstly, a diagnosis following a dyslexia assessment test can be vital to empower children to believe in their abilities. Many children with dyslexia say that knowing they were dyslexic helped to develop their self-esteem.
Secondly, children with dyslexia are often naturally curious and highly creative, with an incredible ability to think laterally. In short, they have a lot to offer. These dyslexic strengths are in high demand in today's workplace!

My decision to move from mainstream teaching to become a dyslexia assessor was driven by a passion to empower these children, to give them the keys to unlock their own unique potential and embrace their skills.
In my reports to schools, it is my pleasure to recommend to teachers how they can better understand and support a child with dyslexia, to encourage the child to strive for success in every area of their educational journey.
It's also so rewarding to know that I'm not only empowering children to understand and manage their dyslexia, but also providing valuable support to their parents. Helping both the child and the family is such a fulfilling aspect of my work.
"It has been a huge help to me too, to be able to better understand and support X. Thank you for making more of a difference than you will ever know. "

As a dyslexia assessor, I am qualified to Masters Level in Education and Postgraduate Level in SEND and SpLD, with a qualification in Special Educational Needs and Disability.
I am a registered test user, listed on the British Psychological Society Register of Qualified Test Users.
I hold a current Assessment Practising Certificate (the 'gold standard' for assessors) with The Dyslexia Guild, allowing me to assess for and diagnose dyslexia. All dyslexia assessments are undertaken under the guidelines issued by the SpLD Assessment Standards Committee (SASC).
I have full Professional Civil Liability and Public Indemnity Insurance, and am registered with the ICO for data protection – see my privacy policy for more information.
