In my experience of working with children who have received their diagnosis, the empowerment that they feel in understanding their strengths and weakness is vital. This note from the mother of an amazing boy I assessed sums it up beautifully.
I just wanted to thank you for making today such an uplifting experience for X. On the way home I asked him how he felt. He said: “I feel lighter. Before I thought I just couldn’t read. Now I feel like a weight has been lifted.”
A full diagnostic assessment can take place at Jordans Quaker Centre, Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire. Alternatively, it is possible to assess at your child's school (a travel fee may apply). I do not assess in the client's own home.
This can vary depending on the number of rest breaks that a child requires, but is usually between 2-2.5 hours. Although this may seem like a long duration, I typically find that children enjoy the assessments, and the time tends to pass quickly for them.
Thank you for meeting with X this week. He mentioned that he thoroughly enjoyed doing his assessment with you. He said, "I didn't feel like an assessment as it was so much fun."
For younger children, or children with attention and concentration difficulties, we can discuss conducting the assessments over a couple of separate sessions.
A full diagnostic assessment costs £575. £100 deposit is payable at the time of booking to secure your date. The remaining balance is payable 7 days before the assessment. This fee includes a pre-assessment telephone consultation (if required), assessment room hire, a full assessment and a comprehensive written report with recommendations.
I am fully insured to undertake assessments within schools and am happy to liaise with schools to find mutually convenient times. Please note that a small travel fee may apply.
An email will be sent prior to the assessment which will detail all of this information.
I believe in the importance of a holistic, collaborative approach to gathering an understanding of a child’s strengths and weaknesses. It is therefore essential that I gather background information, such as developmental and educational history. These need to be returned at least 7 days prior to the assessment taking place.
I assess children from the ages of 8-14.
